Cree's proprietary SC5 technology allows the XHP50 SMD LED to achieve twice the luminous efficacy of a conventional single-chip LED at maximum current - with similar efficiency and without increasing the package footprint. This leads to a longer service life at higher operating temperatures. Overall, the thermal, mechanical and optical costs of the XHP50 are significantly reduced.
